Although they do not approve homosexual practices, they show sympathy and respect for homosexuals. For example, Pastor Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church in Houston said in he found it unfortunate that several Christian ministers focus on the homosexuality by forgetting the other sins described in the Bible. He said that Jesus did not come to condemn people, but to save them. Most Pentecostal denominations agree that marriage is a lifelong relationship between a man and a woman, sanctified by God. Different Pentecostal groups have widely varying views on related subjects such as divorce, remarriage and family dynamics within a marriage.

I will try to make a long story short. We met on an online dating site. I believe I had indicated that my religious beliefs were agnostic and his were that he wanted a strong woman and a strong woman in “the church”. Having never been exposed to Pentecostals and having been raised in the Lutheran Church, I really had no idea what a Pentecostal believed so did not realize that this would become a big deal.

He became very religious as a way to get sober 15 years ago and he and his ex-wife home schooled their kids, stopped watching TV, went to church constantly and all of their friends were members of the church. When we met, we clicked right away and have lots of things in common and I even agreed to go to church with him sometimes. He was very excited for me to experience one of those Holy Ghost services and I left thinking it seemed more like demonic possession but I never said a word.

Over the past two years, we have had a few very vague discussions about religion. When my oldest son wanted to read the Torrah, the Bible and the Quran, my boyfriend made a comment that the Torrah had been changed to discredit Christianity.
